After 14 years, The Incredibles is back! Was it worth the wait?

Yes, yes and more yes. Incredibles 2 is exactly what you would expect it to be. It’s a fun, well-made sequel to one of Pixar’s most beloved franchises that is great entertainment for the whole family — not quite as good as the original, but easily an enjoyable film. Incredibles 2 is a really well-thought out film, bringing out my inner kid, and laughing at the relatable situations we tend to face every day.

Incredibles 2 picks up right in the aftermath of Brad Bird’s 2004 original. Unfortunately, despite the heroes making a comeback, what they’re doing is still illegal. Their big fight catches the eye of a CEO that is an advocate for super-rights. He contacts the supers in hopes of changing the public’s perception. CEO Winston Deavor and his sister Evelyn are publicity and tech geniuses that use their sway to push the supers back into the limelight, starting with Elastigirl. While she’s out fighting the Screenslaver, Mr. Incredible is left to take care of the family. This includes Jack-Jack’s newly discovered powers, Violet’s boy troubles, and Dash’s math homework.

The animation quality has obviously gotten much better since 2004. The film looks extremely detailed. The colors, the action scenes, the details of their suits got all super. My favorite Incredible, of course, is Jack-Jack who stole the show to me. He definitely brought most of the entertainment in the movie, and his superpowers are incredible and fun to watch as he discovers more and more what he can do. There is one Jack-Jack fight scene that is very exciting and funny, but I won’t spoil it for you.

Incredibles 2 remains super to my eyes. And plus, not all heroes wear capes. I give it 4 out of 5 stars. If you have seen the film, let me know your thoughts. Enjoy! -xo Mel
